Field Soil
bearing load
Several bearing plates (from largest to smallest) are placed on top of a surface of soil. Dial gauges are placed on top of the bearing plates to record vertical deformation. A load is applied to yield a given deflection and the load is maintained then released and the rebound is observed This is repeated 6 times reaching the same deflection each time before needing to increase the load to achieve a higher deflection.
