FlowTrac III

Pressure & Volume Controller

FlowTrac units are used to provide cell pressure and back pressure in triaxial testing, back pressure for constant rate of strain consolidation testing, back pressure and consolidation for hydraulic consolidation (Rowe Cell), and cell pressure, inflow pressure, and outflow pressure for permeability testing.

Description

The FlowTrac III is a smaller form factor pressure and volume controller designed for the typical needs of commercial and teaching labs. It operates fully automated and incorporates a high speed, precision micro-stepper motor for accurate results. There is no air pressure required and no need for external values, pressure sensors, or gages for nearly all testing.

The flow pump, which regulates pressure and volume in a test cell, houses a high speed, precision micro-stepper motor that moves a piston in a water-filled cylinder. An embedded control board with a dedicated CPU uses readings from the internal pressure transducer to determine response of the stepper motor. The number of motor steps is used to compute volume change. Two-way solenoid valves are used to control the direction of flow (output valve) and fill/drain operations (supply valve).

For teaching applications where manual control is desired the system can be operated by keypad and display to allow students to fully grasp each step of a test. The FlowTrac III is manufactured with the highest quality components and offers superior performance compared to other systems in its class.
