More than 500 bridges controlled by the State of Massachusetts are classified as structurally deficient. The Accelerated Bridge Program (ABP) oversees the prioritization for the repair of these bridges across the state.

Over $400 million has been allocated in the ABP to improve the conditions of the structurally deficient bridges in the Lower Basin area of the Charles River.

The Solution

Our Active Risk Management® process guides the project team in minimizing the probability and consequences of adverse advents (threats) and maximizing the probability and consequences of positive events (opportunities).

Geocomp assembled a team of qualified firms and consultants to address and respond to project objectives outlined by the client. We coordinated and managed this team of experts to help restore the bridges with a controlled risk envelope so that the projects progressed on time and on budget.

This methodology was applied to sites including the Craigie Dam Bridge and Drawbridge Rehabilitation, the Longfellow Bridge Early Action and Full Rehabilitation, the Boston University Bridge Rehabilitation, the Anderson Memorial Bridge Rehabilitation and more.
