Design and integration of electrical and fiber optic monitoring hardware
The bridge owner, New York State Thruway Authority (NYSTA), sought an innovative system that would perform continuous monitoring of physical and environmental parameters and would be equipped with functionality to identify changes in the bridge response. The $3.98 billion project is the largest bridge project in New York history and such a system would provide critical insights and actionable data for maximizing the life of the structure.
Geocomp’s experts designed, installed, and commissioned what is widely understood to be the most sophisticated Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) system in the United States. To provide the most efficient process, all instruments were procured through Geocomp who then integrated the entire system with a customized, state-of-the-art software platform (iSiteCentral®).
