Test Method Title

Standard Method of Test for Repetitive Static Plat Load Tests of Soils and Flexible Pavement Components for Use in Evaluation and Design of Airport and Highway Pavements

Reference Number

AASHTO T 221

Material

Field Soil

Test Property

bearing load

Description of Test

Several bearing plates (from largest to smallest) are placed on top of a surface of soil. Dial gauges are placed on top of the bearing plates to record vertical deformation. A load is applied to yield a given deflection and the load is maintained then released and the rebound is observed This is repeated 6 times reaching the same deflection each time before needing to increase the load to achieve a higher deflection.
