Description of Test
Powdered clay mineral is dried and ground to pass a #100 mesh size and 5% passing #200 sieve size. Clay is added to a graduated cylinder of reagent water in increments and allowed to hydrate for 16 hours. The volume level at the top of the settled clay is recorded.
