Rock
Shear Strength, Young's Modulus, Angle of Internal Friction
This test method covers the determination of the strength of cylindrical rock specimens in an undrained state under triaxial compression loading. The test provides data useful in determining the strength and elastic properties of rock. Rock is known to behave as a function of the confining pressure. The triaxial compression test is commonly used to simulate the stress conditions under which most underground rock masses exist.
